Moving a vehicle when the wheels will not roll

A seized brake, locked wheel or vehicle stuck in park can make a normal collection difficult. Specialist recovery skates support a wheel so that a vehicle can be positioned for loading where the circumstances allow. Tell us what is preventing movement

Explain which wheels are affected and what happened before the problem began. A car with a flat battery and an electronic parking brake presents a different situation from one with collision damage or broken suspension. Tell us whether you have the keys, whether the steering unlocks and whether neutral can be selected. Include the make and model, especially for an automatic, hybrid or electric vehicle.

You do not need to decide which equipment is required. Give us an accurate description and, if safe, photographs showing the wheels, vehicle position and surrounding access. We can then discuss whether skate recovery, another loading method or further assessment is appropriate.

Access and the unloading point

Recovery skates do not remove every access restriction. Slopes, loose ground, kerbs, narrow entrances and height barriers can affect the plan. A vehicle parked between other cars may also need room made around it. Tell us about these details before a truck is arranged, and check that the receiving garage knows the vehicle cannot roll normally.
