Recovery after vehicle damage

Once immediate safety concerns have been dealt with, the next question is often how to move the vehicle. Trafford Car Recovery takes accident-recovery enquiries across Manchester and Trafford, including damaged cars that need transport to a garage, bodyshop or another agreed destination. The visible damage and the position of the vehicle help us assess the collection.

Describe more than the damaged panels

Tell us if a wheel is out of position, a tyre is flat, the steering will not move or bodywork is touching a wheel. Mention anything hanging underneath, any fluid leak you can see from a safe position and whether the keys are available. Do not move around traffic or enter an unsafe area to obtain photographs. If there is immediate danger or someone needs emergency help, contact the emergency services first.

If police, a road operator or your insurer are already organising recovery, explain that before making another booking. We need to understand who is authorising the collection and whether any instructions or access arrangements apply.

Choose where the vehicle will be taken

Speak to the receiving garage or bodyshop before agreeing the destination. Ask whether it can accept the vehicle in its current condition and how keys will be handed over. If your insurer is involved, check its instructions about the destination and costs; an independent recovery booking does not itself confirm that an insurer will pay.
