What is in the vehicle?

Check whether you have a spare wheel or only a tyre-repair kit, and let us know if the spare is damaged or deflated. A repair kit is not the same as a replacement wheel. If the vehicle uses locking wheel nuts, mention whether the matching key is available. Do not assume that a tool supplied with another car will fit.

Describe any damage beyond the tyre, such as a bent rim, a wheel sitting at an unusual angle or bodywork pressing against it. These details may point towards recovery rather than a straightforward wheel change. Photographs can help the discussion if they can be taken safely.

When recovery is the better option

A missing spare, inaccessible locking nut or unsuitable stopping place can prevent a roadside wheel change. We can discuss taking the car to a tyre centre or garage instead. Confirm that the destination is open and can accept the vehicle before transport is arranged. Wheel changing does not automatically include supplying a tyre, puncture repair or wheel refurbishment.
