Locked out of your car or van?

Keys locked inside a vehicle can leave you unable to continue your journey, collect belongings or move a car from a parking space. Explain the type of lockout

Tell us the make, model and approximate year, and whether any door or the boot can still be opened. Mention if the key fob has stopped responding, the vehicle battery is flat or a physical key has broken. These are different problems and should not all be treated as the same type of entry job.

Let us know whether a spare key is available and whether someone can bring it to you. Be prepared to confirm that you own the vehicle or have the owner's permission to access it. We will discuss suitability before attendance; the website does not promise entry to every make or model, replacement key programming or a particular method of entry.

Arrange help at the right location

For a shopping-centre or airport car park, include the operator or car-park name, level, row and any barriers. At a workplace, provide the unit or business name and gate arrangements. If the vehicle also cannot move, explain whether recovery may be needed and where it would go.

If someone is trapped or in immediate danger, call 999 first. For an ordinary lockout, call us to discuss the options, cost and availability. A starting issue may instead be relevant to our battery and jump-start assistance.
